First Priority Peer Support Program (FPPSP)

To: Health care and public health workers who would like structured training to provide support to fellow peers and colleagues by becoming Peer Supporters; Organizational leaders looking to promote a culture of employee wellness and support through a structured Peer Support program.

From: CO-CARES Team (Colorado Alliance for Resilient & Equitable Systems)

Are you familiar with the inner workings of your organization, and want to proactively help others in your workplace?

CO-CARES is supporting a free program that trains peer supporters across organizations.

Being a peer supporter can enrich both your purpose and help others in need. As a Certified Peer Supporter, you will:

  • Be a contact and referral person for colleagues who may seek help
  • Become equipped to proactively reach out and support colleagues reacting from stress
  • Support a culture of organizational wellness and support

The First Priority Peer Support Program (FPPSP) is a hybrid training program (online and live training) that equips fellow colleagues as Peer Supporters: trained peers who are able to proactively reach out to fellow healthcare workers, to support work and life stressors and be able to respond to peers after critical or stressful events.

Peer Supporters are trained in a variety of topics, including mental health, stress and trauma, confidentiality, and crisis navigation. The program also offers ongoing support with resources, monthly check-ins, and quarterly trainings. Leadership support for the program is recommended.

Register for FPPSP. If you have questions about the program, are a leader and would like to bring this training to your staff, or would like a representative to speak to your leadership about the program, email FPPeer@uccs.edu.

This is an advanced training for volunteer employees to become Peer Supporters. Anyone in an organization is welcome to join! The FPPSP includes approximately 12 hours of pre-work and 4-hours of live training. These trainings are held from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and are available each month.

Past the Pandemic: Individual well-being, connection, and support

To: Health care and public health workforce in Colorado

From: CO-CARES Team (Colorado Alliance for Resilient & Equitable Systems)

This ECHO series offers providers and other staff working in health care and public health settings an opportunity to navigate, normalize and validate worries, stressors and experiences related to various health care environments. Participants will develop an awareness of the manifestations of stress along a continuum. With this framework, each session will provide helpful, tangible tools in a psychoeducational, didactic format to increase capacity, mitigate burnout, elevate connectedness and mindfulness, and promote self-efficacy and quality patient care.

This series is the newest iteration of Past the Pandemic, launched in 2020, and provides updated curriculum to capture current stressors in health care. This program is now a part of a state-wide initiative, Colorado CARES, aimed at increasing health care worker retention and resiliency.

The first two sessions are required, as they are foundational to the rest of the series and will introduce language and concepts that will be woven throughout the remaining sessions. Presence is encouraged at all sessions, as this is an interactive series offering a space to connect with other health care workers. Video modules are posted and available to view at one’s own pace for sessions that are missed. Participants will have access to a Toolkit as well as ongoing weekly Resource Rooms led by a mental health professional to encourage and practice a common language, support and resources.

Commitment:

Six weekly ECHO sessions held virtually

Wednesdays 8:30 - 9:30 a.m.

September 27 - November 1

Sign up for the sessions.
