Upcoming Free Learning Opportunity: Project Visibility Webinar on Creating Community For LGBTQ Elders

To: Administrators and Directors

From: Greg Schlosser, Branch Chief, Health Facility Quality & Education Branch

You are invited to participate in a free webinar, offered by the Colorado Culture Change Coalition and Boulder County’s Project Visibility, whose goal is to co-create an aging services community that is informed, sensitive to, and supportive of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender older adults. The session will be held on May 24 from 1-3 pm.

The course reviews LGBT history and terminology and teaches skills that will open the hearts and minds of those caring for this often invisible population. These skills include:
  • Make no assumptions
  • Ask open-ended questions
  • Affirm resident rights
  • Knowledge of anti-discrimination protections for LGBT people

Care partners who participate in Project Visibility will walk away with a better understanding of LGBT identity, the challenges that LGBT older adults have faced over time, as well as the incredible resilience of this community. Participants will be better equipped to provide affirming and culturally competent care for LGBT older adults.

To participate in the ZOOM course on May 24, from 1-3 pm MT, please follow these instructions:
