Colorado Spirit Crisis Counseling Program (CCP)

To: All individuals and communities impacted by the challenges of COVID-19

From: The Colorado Spirit Crisis Counseling Program (CCP)

The Colorado Spirit Crisis Counseling Program (CCP) is designed to support individuals and communities impacted by the challenges of COVID-19. The program aims to promote recovery, resilience, and empowerment while strengthening existing community support systems by helping with the emotional needs of survivors and those affected by the pandemic.

Colorado Spirit’s trained crisis counselors are there to listen and provide emotional support around the feelings that life during the pandemic may bring up, such as worry, sadness, hopelessness, or anger. The CCP has 18 mental health and other community service providers with local CCP teams around the state. Providers will support geographic areas of Colorado and communities that are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.

The Colorado Spirit can provide individual or family support, support groups, or group education sessions. Topics of support groups and group education can range from mindfulness and coping skills to how to handle the stressors of being an essential worker in this pandemic, and everything in between. Local CCP teams can tailor any presentation or support to what you need.

Core Values of the CCP:
  • Strength-Based— The CCP will help you identify your strengths and how they serve you in recovering from the impacts of COVID-19
  • Anonymous—Crisis counselors do not classify, label, or diagnose people; no records or case files are kept.
  • Outreach Oriented—The CCP is actively working in the community to bring services to those affected.
  • Conducted in Non-Clinical Settings—Not everyone can meet in person during the pandemic. Crisis counselors are available by phone, email, and virtually.
  • Designed to Strengthen Existing Community Support Systems—The CCP works to build up existing community systems with education, training, and resources.

The CCP also includes the Healthcare Worker and Educator Support Line through the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, which provides text and call support and is open to any healthcare providers, hospital employees, public health workers, medical support staff, teachers, and educators. The support line is 303-724-2500.
All services are free and anonymous. Visit the CCP webpage to find support near you, a full list of CCP providers, crisis resources, and more.
