CMS guidance for ASCs temporarily enrolling as hospitals during the COVID-19 public health emergency

To: Ambulatory Surgical Centers From: Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division On April 3, 2020 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued waivers to create additional flexibilities to allow ambulatory surgical centers to temporarily enroll as hospitals and provide hospital services to help address the urgent need to increase hospital capacity. CMS memo for ASCs temporarily enrolling as hospitals   The department is currently developing a state licensing process for ASCs wishing to enroll as licensed hospitals.
