Reminder to Stakeholders Regarding Upcoming Hospice General Rule Update Process

 

To: Hospice providers and all parties interested in the stakeholder process to update 6 CCR 1011-1, Chapter 21 - Hospices Starting on January 22, 2025, the Department will convene a stakeholder process to review, revise, and update 6 CCR 1011-1, Chapter 21 - Hospices. This stakeholder process will involve discussing and receiving feedback about identified changes and proposed rule language.  There will be six currently planned stakeholder meetings held on the fourth Wednesday of the month from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. All interested parties are encouraged to attend and participate in the stakeholder meetings. All meetings will be open to the public and hosted in a hybrid format with in-person and online attendance options.  The Department must review its rules every five to seven years to assess their appropriateness and ensure they remain up-to-date with recent statutory and regulatory changes, in accordance with Department policy and Section 24-4-103.3, C.R.S. During the Department’s last review of Chapter 21 in 2021, several needed updates were identified, including modernization. The last substantive re-write of the chapter was in 2014. The proposed update will incorporate additional CMS requirements, changes related to Physician Assistants, federal regulations on emergency preparedness, and the hospice model of care.  Stakeholder engagement is integral to the Department’s effort to align Chapter 21 with hospice care and service delivery in Colorado and protect the health, safety, and welfare of hospice patients. Notice of each meeting will be emailed directly to interested parties and sent via the Division’s portal messaging system roughly one to two weeks before each meeting.
