Reminder: Monitoring Requirements for Participant’s Emergency and Disaster Assessment

As a reminder to all state-certified HCBS providers offering Group Residential Services and Supports (GRSS), HCPF’s 8.609.5 A12 is a newer regulation regarding on site quarterly monitoring requirements. The rule language includes a requirement of, "a review of each participant's emergency and disaster assessment." Agencies are required to have person specific emergency and disaster assessments in addition to the facility's emergency management plan.

In review of the regulations that apply, Group Homes will be required to complete and have in the record an emergency and disaster assessment for each resident in order to meet this 8.600 requirement. They will further have to have an emergency management plan for each group home to meet the requirements of chapter 8, part 19.

Please note surveys will include a review of both of these requirements for compliance.
