Stakeholder process for updates to 6 CCR 1011-1, Chapter 7 – Assisted Living Residences related to Senate Bill 22-154 (ALR Safety) to begin in September 2022

To: All Stakeholders interested in regulations related to Assisted Living Residences

From: HFEMSD

Senate Bill 22-154, concerning increasing safety in assisted living residences, was signed by Governor Polis in June 2022, modifying statutes around administrator qualifications, notice and processes around involuntary discharges, and the assessment of fines. As a result, the Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division will be convening a stakeholder process in order to update 6 CCR 1011-1, Chapter 7 – Assisted Living Residences to ensure their compliance with the revised statutory requirements.

The stakeholder process will begin in September 2022, with the first meeting being held on September 22nd. The process will consist of monthly meetings, generally on the fourth Thursday of the month, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Meetings will be held virtually, via zoom, to ensure equal access for participation, regardless of the geographic location of the attendees. Details regarding the process, including process timeline, expected topic schedule, and alternate ways to provide comments are included in the Stakeholder Information Letter in the public meeting folder.

Notice of each meeting will be provided to facilities through the Division’s portal messaging system roughly two weeks in advance of each meeting. Notice will also be emailed directly to all individuals who sign up to receive such messages. Please sign up here or through the link contained in the Join Stakeholder List document if interested.

All who are interested are welcome to attend and participate. Meeting documents, including agendas, proposed rule language, presentations, etc., will be posted to the public meeting folder no later than a week before each meeting.

If you have any questions or comments prior to the meeting, feel free to contact Francile Beights at francile.beights@state.co.us or Grace Sandeno at grace.sandeno@state.co.us
