Hospital Alternate Baseline Staffed-Bed Capacity Request Deadline – September 1, 2022

 

To: All Stakeholders From: HFEMSD House Bill 22-1401 requires hospitals to report staffed-bed capacity data to the Department beginning no later than September 1, 2022. In addition, the Department has provided hospitals with their baseline staffed-bed capacity number and the opportunity to submit a request for an alternate baseline number. The deadline to submit a request for an alternate baseline staffed-bed capacity number is September 1st. You may submit a request here with your rationale and reasoning along with an alternate baseline staffed-bed capacity number. For purposes of these requests, please provide information as to any data reporting errors that cause your baseline to be inaccurate or information on any COVID-19 surge beds that have since been decommissioned or closed at your facility. This request will be reviewed by the Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division and the Department’s Disease Control and Public Health Response Division and you will be notified by September 6th if your baseline was approved or denied. For purposes of these emergency rules, staffed-bed capacity is defined as the total number of acute care beds that hospitals are currently reporting to EMResource. These requirements specific to staffed-bed capacity do not apply to the following types of hospitals: licensed rehabilitation hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, hospital units, long-term care hospitals, as defined at 42 U.S.C.1395X(CCC), and specialty hospitals. However, it is important to note that other provisions of HB22-1401 do apply to these hospitals.
