Updated COVID-19 ongoing vaccination and treatment plan

To: Residential care facilities (nursing homes, assisted living facilities, group homes, and intermediate care facilities)

From: CDPHE

CDPHE has recently updated the Residential Care Facility (RCF) Comprehensive Mitigation Guidance. Reference the Summary of Recent Changes section (page 56) to ensure you have the most recent version of the guidance.

This update includes a revision to the COVID-19 Ongoing Vaccination Plan to include a COVID-19 treatment plan. The purpose of a COVID-19 Ongoing Vaccination and Treatment Plan is to help facilities plan for current and future COVID-19 vaccination and treatment needs and determine the roles and responsibilities of designated person(s) at the facility who will be tasked with ensuring COVID-19 vaccination and treatment are facility priorities.

Vaccination with a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine is critical to reducing COVID-19-related illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths.

Treatments (antivirals and monoclonal antibodies) are for people who test positive for COVID-19, currently have mild to moderate symptoms, and have at least one risk factor for progression to severe disease. Most treatments are not for people who are currently hospitalized for COVID-19. Treatment works best if it’s taken within a few days of getting ill.

The revised COVID-19 ongoing vaccination and treatment plan template is in the RCF Comprehensive Mitigation Guidance under the heading Vaccination. It is also on this CDPHE webpage. The changes to the previous plan are outlined below:

  • Added a requirement to update the current vaccination plan for your facility to the COVID-19 Ongoing Vaccination and Treatment Plan no later than August 1, 2022, and have it available when the health facility survey teams request to review.
  • Added the requirement to identify and list the name and location of the COVID-19 vaccine and treatment provider(s) that will be used to access treatments (antivirals and monoclonal antibodies) for residents who choose to receive them.
  • Removed the requirement to submit the plan to CDPHE.

Additionally, your facility must update EMResource/Juvare with the COVID-19 vaccine provider and COVID-19 treatment provider you use beginning July 15, 2022. The questions and definitions that we are adding to the EMResource reporting system are below:
