Due to the impact COVID-19 has had on residents, families, staff, and visitors, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division will not require residential care facilities to pay license renewal fees for licenses with expiration dates between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023. Important information about this license renewal fee holiday:
- The license renewal fee holiday only applies to residential care facilities (skilled nursing facilities, assisted living residences, group homes, and intermediate care facilities).
- The license renewal fee holiday applies to licenses with expiration dates between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023. License renewals must be submitted 60 days in advance of the license expiration. For those facilities that have paid the fee for this time period, a refund will be granted.
- Residential care facilities must pay license renewal late fees if the license renewal application is not submitted by the license expiration date, per Chapter 2, Section 2.5.2(A-C).
- Refunds may take several weeks to process.
- Facilities must pay license renewal fees for licenses that begin on July 1, 2023.
- All other fees during this time period must be paid. Any facility change that requires a fee must be paid. Only license renewal fees are waived during this time period.
The Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division will communicate this information regularly to residential care facilities between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.
