The Residential Care Strike Team wants to remind facilities to be proactive with reordering testing supplies. Facilities should keep enough PCR and rapid testing supplies on hand to perform at least one week’s worth of outbreak testing. Please note: If your facility enters into an outbreak, you will need to test with the following frequency as outlined in the “Outbreak Testing Interval Table” below:
Outbreak Testing Interval Table
Individuals who should participate in outbreak testing (*Exclude those who tested PCR positive in the past 90 days and remain asymptomatic) and Test Type and Frequency
Health care personnel (HCP) who are not fully vaccinated:
- Test for SARS CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, using a rapid molecular or antigen test at the beginning of every shift.
AND
- Complete twice-weekly lab-based PCR testing.
Residents who are not fully vaccinated regardless if they have left the facility.
- Approximately the same time each day, test for SARS CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, using a rapid molecular or antigen test.
AND
- Complete twice-weekly lab-based PCR testing.
HCP who are fully vaccinated:
- Complete twice-weekly lab-based PCR testing.
Residents who are fully vaccinated:
- Complete twice-weekly lab-based PCR testing.
Facilities are strongly encouraged to keep a month’s worth of rapid testing supplies on hand.
PCR testing supplies for Mako may be obtained from your courier.
Please be advised that testing supplies may take up to five days to arrive and will take longer over the weekends. If your facility has entered into an outbreak and is in more urgent need of supplies, please fill out the appropriate form and inform both cdphe_infectionprevention@state.co.us and residentialcarestriketeam@state.co.us of how many tests the facility will need for the next five days. The Strike Team will reach out to facilities that have outbreaks to offer assistance and guidance on testing and support with testing supplies.
