Important Reminder: Rapid testing supply delivery complete, facilities must follow current guidelines

To: Residential care facilities (Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, Group Homes, and Intermediate Care Facilities)

From: CDPHE Residential Care Strike Team & Infection Prevention and Control Unit

With the rollout of rapid testing of unvaccinated individuals statewide, the CDPHE Residential Care Strike Team and Infection Prevention and Control Unit reminds facilities that daily rapid testing must be performed in addition to weekly PCR testing based on county positivity. Rapid testing does not replace PCR testing. On days that PCR tests are administered, unvaccinated individuals must be tested twice: once with a PCR test and once with a rapid test.

As of August 12, 2021, all facilities with unvaccinated staff (as reported in EMResource) should have received testing supplies as well as training for point of care rapid testing. All facilities are expected to have applied for CLIA waivers by August 12, 2021. If you did not receive your supplies, please reach out to Alexis.Foor@state.co.us immediately.

If your facility has reported 100% staff vaccination rates, but still needs point of care rapid testing supplies (for example, to test unvaccinated residents), please fill out this form. Additional training on point of care testing and the CLIA application is available on our website.

Facilities may request reimbursement for the CLIA application fee once they have received their CLIA waiver certificate. To request reimbursement, please email a digital copy of your CLIA certificate, along with proof of payment (if applicable) to residentialcarestriketeam@state.co.us. In your email, be sure to include your facility name and Colorado facility ID number. As a reminder, only facilities who have applied for CLIA waivers after June 22, 2021, for the sole purpose of using the waiver for COVID-19 testing are eligible for reimbursement of application fees.
