Providers,
Attached you will find a draft of the revised occurrence manual. Please review this draft version and submit any questions or comments for review. The current manual was revised last in 2011 when home care agencies were added to the occurrence reporting process. This most recent version includes some significant updates intended to make reporting requirements and processes more defined.
You will notice that this version of the manual focuses less on specific examples and more on overarching questions about reporting. This is intended to provide clearer direction without allowing specific details to confuse the main issue. There will always be situations where it may be unclear if the facility should report. The revised manual may not address all of those situations, but aims to provide general guidance for most situations. If there are still questions after reviewing the manual, occurrence staff are available to answer those questions.
Your feedback to this document is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to share this document to other providers and stakeholders that may not have received this communication. While many general questions have been addressed in this document, there may be others that would be helpful to add. Please provide any other ideas, general questions or comments about the new manual to peter.myers@state.co.us. Please reply by November 27, 2017. Any feedback submitted after that time will not be considered. After November 27th, the communication will be reviewed and proposed changes will be made as necessary. After making the necessary changes, the new occurrence manual will be broadcasted to all licensed providers.
We look forward to working with you to continue to improve the occurrence manual and simplifying occurrence reporting for licensed providers.
