On April 19, 2017 the
Board of Health adopted our proposed changes to Chapter 24, Medication
Administration Regulations. The new rules will become effective July 1, 2017 to coincide with the effective date of
some of the legislative changes.
The rule with the proposed amendments
may be viewed at https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/cdphe/draft-regulations.
What has changed: CDPHE
will no longer contract with Vendors/Instructors to teach the Medication Administration Course. Instead, CDPHE will now designate Approved
Training Entities (ATE). Beginning April 1, 2017 those interested in becoming
an ATE can submit an application, curriculum, content and testing for approval.
Once the ATE has received written notification of approval from the department they
may start teaching beginning 7/1/17.
Where
to find ATE application and additional information: Please visit our website at www.healthfacilities.info and click on Qualified
Medication Administration Personnel link. This will redirect you to the QMAP
web page. Scroll down to Apply to become an approved training entity.
