Nursing Home Requirements of Participation Phase I Training

LeadingAge Colorado is offering a half-day training program on December 13 to

(1) Help nursing home providers understand the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) final rules changes to nursing home requirements, and to
(2) Navigate the changes that need to be in place before the surveyors arrive.

These are the most significant changes to the delivery of nursing home care since OBRA 1987. The CMS officially published the final rules on Oct. 4, 2016. They will be implemented in three phases, with the first phase being November 28, 2016. The majority of Phase I requirements involve documentation and clarification of written policies and procedures, including new definitions.

Presenters include Todd Selby, attorney, Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, P.C., and Jo Tansey, nursing facilities section manager, Health Facilities & Emergency Medical Services Division at the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE)
