Updated Meeting Time and Location - Birth Center General Rule Updates Stakeholder Group

Thank you to everyone who has been participating in the stakeholder process regarding general updates to 6 CCR 1011-1, Chapter 22 - Birth Centers. The meetings were planned for the third Tuesday of the month from February 2024 through August 2024, and this schedule will continue through the end of the process. However, the Department has some important updates to share with you.


Meeting Location and Duration


Due to the robust discussion and multiple topics being tackled by the stakeholder group, the Department would like to extend the length of each meeting, in order to ensure we keep our proposed agenda timeline. Additionally, our in-person participation is straining the space in the room originally scheduled for these meetings. To address these points, we will be extending the meeting by an hour, with a dedicated break mid-way, as well as move the meetings to a larger room. We will continue to meet on the same day. We are hopeful that these measures, along with a modification to the topic schedule to accommodate additional discussion, will help aid us in continuing to support stakeholder engagement in the Chapter 22 Update process.


Beginning May 21, 2024, all Chapter 22, Birth Center Update stakeholder meetings will be held in hybrid format–both in-person and online–from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The meetings will be held at the same address, but moved from the main building, Building A, to the adjacent 2-story building just south of it, Building B. The May meeting will be held in room B1E and the June, July, and August meetings will be held in B1F. Please look for future communication regarding instructions for accessing the conference room on the day of the meetings. 


The Department has also revised the topic schedule, and updated the stakeholder letter to reflect the changes. These changes reflect both the additional time we’ve spent on the topics thus far, as well as removing SB21-193 policies from the Chapter 22-specific stakeholder process, as that stakeholder process is expected to be reconvened due to changes to the underlying legislation currently working their way through the legislative process.

In addition to the extended meeting times, room change, and topic schedule update, the Department asks that any stakeholder concerns regarding FGI be submitted via email to francile.beights@state.co.us and nicola.koepnick@state.co.us  by June 3rd. When submitting concerns or comments, please include reference to which part of the FGI is the source of the concern, preferably by standard number. We are asking for these in advance so that we have time to research the standards, as well as identify potential modifications that could be appropriate for inclusion in the revised rules.
