COVID-19 prevention and treatment messaging for facilities

To: Residential care facilities (Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, Group Homes, and Intermediate Care Facilities)

From: CDPHE

The Residential Care Facility Comprehensive Mitigation Guidance requires facilities to provide messaging to residents, resident decision-makers, and staff alerting them to the importance of receiving clinically recommended doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Facilities must make COVID-19 vaccines available to staff and residents inside the facility within 60 days of any update to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) vaccine recommendations.

Vaccination Clinics (page 18)

As FDA authorizes and CDC recommends follow-up doses of COVID-19 vaccines, facilities should evaluate vaccination rates among their residents and staff, and follow the new recommendations. Facilities must provide messaging to residents, resident decision-makers, and staff alerting them to updated recommendations and the importance of receiving clinically recommended doses.

  • Facilities must make COVID-19 vaccines available to staff and residents inside their facility within 60 days of any update to CDC’s vaccine recommendations. CDPHE will provide assistance with vaccination clinics for facilities that need it, but encourages all facilities to develop plans with community partners and document that information in the Ongoing Vaccination Form. During this 60-day period, facilities will communicate with CDPHE regarding their ability to offer vaccination to residents and staff and respond to CDPHE communication within three business days.

We created COVID-19 vaccination and treatment materials in English and Spanish including posters/flyers to provide messaging at your facilities.
