Please join the Colorado Culture Change Coalition in hosting Lisa Armeo with Montessori Intergenerational Learning Communities (MILC) to learn about the Montessori approach in dementia care. Lisa will present a 3-part educational series on bringing Montessori practice to your communities/agencies on January 18th, January 25th, and February 1st from 9-10:30am. The link to register for the series is below.
Montessori is an innovative approach to dementia care that can be adapted to individuals or groups. The goal of the program is to support people living with dementia by creating a prepared environment, filled with cues and memory support so that they may live as independently as possible. MILC provides the education and support to bring this cultural shift to those living with memory loss. MILC will help develop the tools necessary to assess at what level individuals are capable of participating and then create meaningful work and roles within your community or home to help them thrive.
In Montessori communities, staff and home providers are not called “caregivers” and elders are not called “residents.” Both are referred to as “care partners” and they develop meaningful relationships with each other and work side by side in shared communities. No matter the age or ability of a person, participation in everyday life develops a feeling of worthiness in person, called upon to share it in an active way.
You are invited to a Zoom meeting.
