CDPHE updates visitation guidance to align with CMS revisions

To: Residential care facilities (Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, Group Homes, and Intermediate Care Facilities)

From: CDPHE Residential Care Strike Team and Infection Prevention Unit

The Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment updated the long-term care facility visitation guidance to align with changes to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements from the November 12, 2021 Memorandum

  • All facilities should allow for visitation at all times and for all residents. Visitation should be person-centered; consider the residents’ physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being; support the patient’s quality of life; and follow all infection control core principles included in the RCF comprehensive mitigation guidance

See the visitation section of the guidance for full details (p. 49). Stay up to date online by visiting covid19.colorado.gov/ltcf.
