Testing Clarification: Unvaccinated staff must test at least once a week

To: Residential care facilities (Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, Group Homes, and Intermediate Care Facilities)

From: HFEMS Residential Care Strike Team

The Residential Care Strike Team continues to monitor weekly COVID-19 surveillance testing activity at facilities under the seventh amended Public Health Order 20-20. Recently, we have received reports of facilities moving to once a month testing.

We want to stress that all staff that are not fully vaccinated must be tested at least once a week.

Facilities located in a county with a positivity rate of 10% or greater must be tested twice weekly. See the table below for an overview and visit the testing section of the all-in-one mitigation guidance for full details.

*Please note: there has been guidance circulating that facilities residing in a county with a positivity rate of 5% or below only have to test once a month. That guidance should be disregarded; all staff that are not fully vaccinated must be tested at least once a week.
