The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued revisions to two Quality Safety and Oversight Memos on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

  • CMS Quality Safety and Oversight Memo “Interim Final Rule (IFC), CMS-2401-IFC, Additional Policy and Regulatory Revisions in Response to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency related to Long-Term Care (LTC) Facility Testing Requirements and Revised COVID-19 Focused Survey Tool” (Ref: QSO-20-38-NH) issued August 26, 2020 has been revised as of 4/27/2021.
  • CMS Quality Safety and Oversight Memo “Nursing Home Visitation – COVID-19” (Ref: QSO-20-39-NH) issued September 17, 2020 has been most recently revised as of 4/27/2021.

In addition to the CMS guidance, Public Health Order 20-20 remains in effect and must be followed for both testing and visitation guidance. CDPHE will review both the public health order and the revised CMS guidance to ensure there is no conflict between both sets of guidance.
