Nursing homes have control over influenza and pneumonia immunization practices even during COVID-19. Effective infection prevention and control practices are essential and must include strong immunization processes, documentation and education. Nursing homes can strengthen the immunization element of your infection prevention programs and improve publicly reported quality measures.
Telligen will be hosting an LTC Office Hours on March 24th with a panel of nursing homes whose performance in the quality measures for pneumonia and influenza exceeds the national average. These nursing homes will share their strategies and processes to promote vaccine uptake among residents as well as shared tips to appropriate MDS coding.
Objectives:
- Develop a strategy for meeting or exceeding the national average for the Long Stay (LS) pneumonia and influenza Quality Measure (QM)
- Clarify how the Pneumonia and Influenza QM is calculated
- Describe the immunization assessment and documentation process
