CMS Issues Guidance for Visitation in ICF/IIDs and PRTFs

To: Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IIDs) and Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTFs)

From: Centers for Medicaid Service (CMS)

CMS has issued guidance that provides ways an ICF/IID and PRTF can more safely facilitate in-person visitation and address the psychosocial needs of clients/residents. You can view the memorandum and download the guidance here.

CMS is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of ICF/IID clients and PRTF residents by enforcing the standards required to help each client/resident attain or maintain their highest level of functioning. They encourage all ICF/IIDs and PRTFs to monitor the CDC website for information and resources and contact their health department when needed.
