Outbreak Investigations in Dialysis Settings
Webinar July 26th 1 p.m.

- The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) will be hosting a webinar about dialysis-related outbreaks. Participants will learn about the types of outbreaks that can occur in this special setting, how to recognize suspect outbreaks, and how to report outbreaks to CDPHE. Additional dialysis-specific resources will be shared, including an introduction to CDPHE's Dialysis Infection Preventionist, Sara Avalos, RN, MSN.

LENGTH OF TRAINING: 1 HOUR

CONTENT WILL BE PRESENTED BY:

- Helen Johnston, MPH, who manages the Emerging Infections Unit in the Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) Program at CDPHE. She oversees activities related to population-based surveillance of healthcare-associated infections, outbreak investigations, and other projects funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to improve our knowledge of HAIs and inform prevention efforts. Ms. Johnston has also worked on infection prevention collaboratives focused on reducing C. difficile and surgical site infections in the acute care setting.
