FAQs Regarding Safe Practices for Medical Injections

Injection safety, or safe injection practices, is a set of measures taken to perform injections in an optimally safe manner for patients, healthcare personnel, and others. Unfortunately, outbreaks and patient notifications resulting from healthcare personnel failing to adhere to Standard Precautions and basic control practices continue to be reported.

The CDC’s One and Only Campaign addresses some of the most FAQs in a document that summarizes inquiries received by CDC from healthcare personnel regarding safe use of needles, syringes, and injectable medications in patient care settings.

If you have an upcoming training or would like a guest speaker to present on injection safety, please contact Alana Cilwick  (303.692.2727) or alana.cilwick@state.co.us Injection Safety Coordinator at CDPHE.
