Home Care Advisory Committee Accepting Applications for Agency and Consumer Members
The Home Care Advisory Committee is now accepting membership applications from members of the disabled community who are home care consumers, seniors or representatives of seniors who are home care consumers.
In addition, the committee is accepting applications from agency representatives.
Per statutory requirements (C.R.S. 25-27.5-101), the Home Care Advisory Committee is to consist of representatives of providers and consumers of home care services, both medical and non-medical in nature. Consumer representation can consist of members of the disabled community who are home care consumers, seniors or representatives of seniors who are home care consumers. Members serve on a voluntary basis and are appointed by the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
While applications from representatives of all sectors of home care are welcome, the Committee is seeking active members representing agencies in the central mountains and western slope, the eastern plains and other rural counties, agencies providing in-home support services, and representatives of registered placement agencies.
The Home Care Advisory Committee meets once every other month to review and discuss the rules that govern the licensing of home care agencies in the State of Colorado. They consider the impact of the program and the effectiveness of enforcement and make recommendations to both the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the State Board of Health.
The Committee is seeking members who can commit to routinely attending meetings in person at the Department's headquarters in Denver, or remotely by video conference. In order for the Committee to remain a productive and vital body, only applicants with a demonstrated commitment to contributing to discussion, recommendations, research and work groups will be considered.
Linked are applications for agency and consumer representatives. Please submit applications as well as a statement of interest and resume to the mailing or email address noted on the application.
Applications are due by January 31, 2018. Department personnel may follow up by phone or email to ask additional questions of the applicants. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of the selection process by February 28, 2018.
