Updates to Provider and Laboratory Public Health Disease Reporting Requirements

 

To: Facility administrators, medical directors, nursing directors, infection preventionists On November 20, 2024, the Colorado State Board of Health approved amendments to 6 CCR 1009-1: Epidemic and Communicable Disease Control, which are effective on January 14, 2025. The rule names the communicable diseases that are reportable by laboratories, healthcare providers, coroners, schools, licensed child care centers, and higher education institutions to CDPHE and local public health agencies, and outlines public health’s authority to conduct disease investigations. An updated list of the reportable conditions, effective January 14, 2025, is available on the CDPHE Report a Disease website (click on “Diseases and conditions that must be reported”). This website also includes information on how to report to public health, and information for laboratories about specimen submission to the CDPHE Public Health Laboratory.
